A graduate of Virgina Tech and the University of Baltimore School of Law, he has dedicated his professional life to helping those charged with everything from speeding tickets to the most serious felonies.
Mr. Poffenbarger is also a lifelong famer, who still maintains a farm in Thurmont, Maryland.

Born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland, Jake is a proud graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio and University of Maryland School of Law. In 2007, he joined the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office. Jake fell in love with Western Maryland and has remained here ever since. For more than a decade, Jake worked as an Assistant State’s Attorn
Born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland, Jake is a proud graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio and University of Maryland School of Law. In 2007, he joined the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office. Jake fell in love with Western Maryland and has remained here ever since. For more than a decade, Jake worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney and finally as a Felony Gang and Drug case Prosecutor.
In 2018, Jake entered private practice, focusing on criminal law and family law. He appears regularly in Hagerstown and Frederick and has experience in many of Maryland's jurisdictions.
When he is away from the office, Jake spends his time at home with his wife, son and beagle or Maryland great local breweries and wineries.
